Meet the Harvest Interns

Harvest is just around the corner and we are anxiously anticipating the arrival of our 2010 harvest interns! In total we are hosting six interns, three of whom will be international. This is a fun way for our team to learn new winemaking practices, experience different cultures and develop long lasting friendships around the world.

Vanessa Robson, will be joining us from Rose Park, Australia; she has a degree in Oenology from the University of Adelaide and has worked multiple harvests in Australian wineries. Gio Alberio will be joining us from Como Italy; he has a Masters Degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Milan and has worked in wineries in both Australia and Italy. Alberto Prieto Garcia joins us from Leon, Spain; he has degrees in Oenology and Food Science, and he comes highly recommended from working with our sister wineries in Spain, Bilbainas and Abadia de Poblet. Our Californian interns include Tiffany Tzuang a Microbiology major from UC Davis, Kaitlin O'Brien a Wine and Viticulture major from Cal Poly SLO and Michael Payne who double majored in Environmental Sciences and Fine Arts at USF and has acquired much technical expertise from working in various fields of the industry.

Team Artesa is so pleased and excited that all of our interns have decided to come join us and we can't wait to share another successful harvest with them!

Vineyard Update from Artesa's Assistant Winemaker

A cold, wet spring pushed back bud break for three weeks this year and we are now finally experiencing a full bloom everywhere in the Napa Valley. With the current vine growth, the 2010 harvest may start very late and will likely be very hectic.

We have already hired our harvest interns from USA, Spain, Italy, and Australia for this year and we are excited for their arrival. To be honest, we would like to think that harvest is still three more months away but we know it will be upon us very soon.

In preparation, we are busy bottling our '09 Chardonnay, Carneros and '09 Pinot Noir, Carneros and we cannot wait to show you these beautiful wines.

Please check out the following pictures from our Carneros 5 & 10K run/ pancake breakfast on Saturday. Very successful event and fun. We had a 1,000 people turn out for the event this year.
